Dental Veneer Procedure

Diagnose & Plan Treatment

You can start your treatment with an initial meeting to discuss the plan for your dental journey. During this consultation, we’d like to see if porcelain veneers align with your needs. If deemed suitable, we will go ahead and outline the procedure details and schedule your second appointment to start the treatment plan.

Preparation

You can expect to be here for up to two hours at your next appointment. We will lightly buff your teeth, removing ½ mm of the tooth so that the veneers bond perfectly on your teeth. Local anesthesia is available but not typically required for this process. We then take a mould of your teeth to send off for fabrication. It can take 1-2 weeks for your veneers to be ready, and a temporary veneer can/may be used.

Bonding

During your final appointment, we meticulously place your veneers using glycerin or water, carefully assessing their fit and appearance. Any necessary adjustments, such as modifying the shade of colour, can be made at this stage. Once the colour is finalized, we cleanse your teeth, incorporating specific chemicals to ensure a secure bond. Our specialized cement is then applied between your teeth and the veneers, with a light beam employed to harden the cement and firmly affix the veneers in place.

Following the placement of your new veneers, you can maintain your regular dental care routine, including daily brushing and flossing. We will schedule a follow-up visit within two weeks to monitor your progress and address any post-treatment considerations.

Porcelain Veneers Proper Care & Maintenance

You can maintain your daily brushing and flossing routine without damaging your porcelain veneers. While non-abrasive toothpaste is recommended, proper care significantly extends the lifespan of your veneers.

It’s common to initially experience hot and cold sensitivity after getting porcelain veneers due to removing some enamel during the application. This sensation is typically temporary, resolving within two weeks. If sensitivity continues beyond this period, please schedule an appointment soon.

For those who clench or grind their teeth at night, wearing a night guard is advisable to reduce stress on the teeth during sleep. Please let us know if you already use a night guard for this purpose or if you clench without wearing one.
