Dental Implants

Many individuals consider dental implants for various reasons, but a common motivation is the loss of teeth over their lifetime, irrespective of age. Dental implants offer the possibility of regaining the ability to enjoy a wide range of foods that may have been challenging after losing crucial teeth. Additionally, with dental implants, one can smile confidently without concerns.

Comprising small titanium posts, dental implants are strategically placed in the jawbone at the sites of missing teeth. These posts establish a robust bond with the jawbone, providing a secure foundation for the placement of new artificial teeth. The loss of teeth due to aging or neglect poses a risk of bone deterioration, a concern that dental implants can effectively address.

If you are considering dental implants as a suitable solution for your situation, we are more than willing to arrange a meeting with you. During this consultation, which includes a radiographic/dental exam and a review of your health history, we want you to understand your preferences and determine the best approach for your dental needs. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have during these consultations to ensure you are well-informed and comfortable with the decision-making process.

Dental Implant Procedure

As previously mentioned, dental implants serve as anchors implanted into your jawbone, with small titanium posts attached to these implants emerging through your gums to stabilize your new artificial teeth.

The typical procedure involves two distinct surgical phases for most patients, details of which will be discussed during your consultation. In the initial surgical phase, the implants are inserted into your jawbone. Temporary dentures are provided, and during the initial three to six months following surgery, you must modify your diet to soft foods to facilitate the bonding of the implants with your jawbone.

This waiting period allows for a secure bond to form. Meanwhile, our restorative dentist designs your final denture or bridgework. The second phase commences once the implant is firmly bonded to the jawbone. Upon uncovering the implant, the oral surgeon attaches a small healing collar. Our doctors can then work on your new teeth, evaluating your teeth before connecting attachments (or posts) to your implants. Replacement teeth are crafted over these attachments or posts.

The entire dental implant procedure typically spans 6-8 months, constituting the average duration. Notably, many of our patients have reported minimal disruption in their daily lives during the implant procedure.
